Hadith 93
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى، نا بُرْدُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ: " لَمَّا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ تَعَالَى آيَةَ التَّيَمُّمِ لَمْ أَدْرِ كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَلَمْ أَجِدْهُ، وَقِيلَ: قَدْ خَرَجَ الْوَقْتَ الدُّرَجَةَ الَّذِي أَخَذَ فِيهِ، فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ فَأُرَانِي عَرَفَ حَاجَتِي، فَقَامَ ثُمَّ ضَرَبَ ضَرْبَةً عَلَى الْأَرْضِ فَمَسَحَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ لَمْ يَزِدْ عَلَى ذَلِكَ فَرَجَعْتُ وَلَمْ أَسْأَلْهُ ".
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated: When the verse of tayammum was revealed, I did not know how I should perform it. So I went to the house of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) to present myself to him, but I did not find him. It was said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) has gone outside. I knew the path where I could find him, so I followed behind him. I think he sensed my need, so he stood up, then struck both his hands on the earth, wiped his face and hands, and did not add anything to that. I returned and did not ask him (about the method of tayammum).
