Washing the feet is obligatory in wudu
Hadith 84
أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ الْقُرَشِيِّ، قَالَ: رَأَى أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ قَوْمًا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ مِنَ الْمِطْهَرَةِ فَقَالَ: أَسْبِغُوا الْوُضُوءَ فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ وَيْلٌ لِلْعَرَاقِيبِ مِنَ النَّارِ.
Muhammad bin Ziyad al-Qurashi narrated, that our master Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, saw some people performing ablution from a vessel, so he said: Perform ablution thoroughly, for I heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, say: “Woe to the heels (left) dry (during ablution) from the fire of Hell.”
Hadith 85
أَخْبَرَنَا النَّضْرُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ زِيَادٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ أَنَّهُ رَأَى قَوْمًا يَتَوَضَّئُونَ مِنَ الْمِطْهَرَةِ، فَذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ سَوَاءً.
Muhammad bin Ziyad narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that he saw some people performing ablution from a vessel, so he mentioned something similar to that.
