Ghusl becomes obligatory when the private parts meet
Hadith 81
أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، وَمَطَرٌ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، عَنْ أَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِذَا جَلَسَ بَيْنَ شُعَبِهَا الْأرْبَعِ، ثُمَّ جَهَدَهَا فَعَلَيْهِ الْغُسْلُ، زَادَ مَطَرٌ فِيهِ: وَإِنْ لَمْ يُنْزِلْ.
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "When he sits between her four limbs, then makes an effort (has intercourse), then ghusl becomes obligatory upon him." Mutar (the narrator) has added: even if there is no ejaculation.
Hadith 82
أَخْبَرَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ، وَأَبِي رَافِعٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: إِذَا قَعَدَ بَيْنَ شُعَبِهَا الْأرْبَعِ، ثُمَّ اجْتَهَدَ فَعَلَيْهِ الْغُسْلُ.
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "When he sits between her four limbs and then exerts himself (has intercourse), then ghusl (ritual bath) becomes obligatory upon him."
