Qatila bint Saifi al-Juhaniyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: A Jewish scholar came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O community of Muhammad! You are the best of people, if only you did not commit shirk (associate partners with Allah)." He (the Prophet) asked, "What is that?" He said, "You say, 'By the Ka'bah!'" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) paused, then said, "When you swear an oath, say: 'By the Lord of the Ka'bah!'" He (the Jewish scholar) then said, "You are good people, if only you do not associate partners with Allah." He (the Prophet) asked, "What is that?" He said, "You say: 'Whatever Allah wills and whatever you will.'" So the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) paused for a while, then said, "Whoever among you says, 'Whatever Allah wills,' let him then say, 'then whatever you will.'"

Qatila bint Saifi Juhaniya (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: A Jewish scholar came to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him), then the narrator reported the hadith similar to the previous one, and added this: Upon both matters, he said: Subhan Allah! Subhan Allah! (an expression of amazement) What is that? And he said: "Whoever says, 'Whatever Allah wills,' then he should say between the two: 'Then as you will.'"

Abdullah bin Yasar Juhani narrated: A woman from our tribe told me that she heard the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, delivering a sermon. He, peace and blessings be upon him, was saying: "None of you should say: 'If Allah and so-and-so (had not done)...' If he must say it, then he should say: 'If Allah (had not done), then so-and-so.'"
