Hadith 933

Masruq narrated: I went to Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and she was crying. I said to her: O Mother of the Believers! Why are you crying? She replied: I become full from food and I wish to cry, so I begin to cry, and this is because the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) never ate his fill of wheat bread twice in one day until he passed away.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the mentioned hadith, the asceticism (zuhd), self-sufficiency (istighna), and contentment (qana‘ah) of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam are established. Although in the early years of Islam, Muslims had to face hardships, in the later years of the life of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, Allah Dhu’l-Jalal improved the conditions of the Muslims. Even then, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not eat his fill for two consecutive meals; rather, whatever came to him, he would give it away in charity (sadaqah).
