Hadith 931

Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "Shall I not tell you about your best people?" They said: "Why not." He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "(Your best people) are those who, when you see them, remind you of Allah. Shall I not tell you about your worst people?" They said: "Why not, O Messenger of Allah!" He (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The tale-bearers, those who cause discord between friends, and those who seek corruption and mischief."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
➊ ... From the mentioned hadith, it is understood that the best people are those whom, when seen, remind one of Allah, because the people of Allah are precisely those who uphold the commands of the Shari‘ah, and a special light of piety and righteousness is apparent on their faces.
In another hadith, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) that the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), regarding Allah the Exalted’s statement: “Behold! Verily, the friends (awliya) of Allah, no fear shall come upon them, nor shall they grieve” (: Yunus: 62), said: The friends (awliya) of Allah are those whom, when seen, remind one of Allah. (Silsilat al-Sahihah, no. 1646)

➋ ... From the mentioned hadith, it is also understood that the evil people are those who engage in tale-bearing, conveying statements from one group to another, and transferring words from here to there. Such people create discord among friends.
