Statement about those who grow up in blessings
Hadith 921

أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُقْرِئُ، نا الْأَفْرِيقِيُّ، نا عُمَارَةُ بْنُ رَاشِدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((شَرُّ أُمَّتِي الَّذِينَ غُذُّوا فِي النِّعَمِ وَنَبَتَتْ عَلَيْهِمْ أَجْسَامُهُمْ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "The worst people of my Ummah are those who were brought up in blessings and whose bodies grew upon them."

The people referred to in the aforementioned hadith are those who open their eyes amidst an abundance of wealth—that is, they are born with a silver spoon in their mouths, and poverty never even comes near them. The purpose of their lives is to indulge in luxury and to spend their wealth on worldly pleasures.
In another hadith, it is mentioned that Sayyidah Fatimah radi Allahu anha says that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The worst people of my ummah are those who have been granted various blessings, but (forgetting the Hereafter) they begin to focus intently on all kinds of foods and colorful garments, and twist their mouths to speak in eloquent and articulate language." (Silsilat al-Sahihah: 1891)
