Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
➊ The mentioned hadith clearly shows the virtue of those who are always engaged in the remembrance of Allah. It is also understood that faith increases and decreases; the state of faith is not always the same. It is also learned that a person should be very cautious regarding the state of his faith. It is evident that being occupied with worldly matters, fulfilling the rights of one’s wife and children, as long as it is within the bounds of Shariah, is not objectionable; however, the rights of Allah must also be fulfilled.
In another narration, it is reported from Sayyiduna Hanzalah radi Allahu anhu: We were with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, he gave us advice and mentioned the Hellfire. Then I went home, showed affection to my children, and spent some time with my wife. Then I went out and met Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu. I told him what had happened, and he said: I did the same. Then both of us went to the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. I said: O Messenger of Allah! Hanzalah has become a hypocrite. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “What are you saying?” I explained the whole situation. Sayyiduna Abu Bakr radi Allahu anhu said: I did as Hanzalah did. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “O Hanzalah! There is a time for remembrance and a time for heedlessness. If your hearts remained as they are at the time of admonition, the angels would shake hands with you, to the extent that they would greet you in the streets.” (Muslim, Kitab al-Tawbah, Chapter: The Virtue of Constant Remembrance and the Permissibility of Leaving It, No. 2750)
➋ In the aforementioned hadith, it is stated: ((If you did not commit sins, Allah would bring a people...)). This does not mean at all that Allah likes His servants to commit sins or that He likes sinful people. Rather, it means that, except for the Prophets alayhimussalam, every human is a sinner, because by nature he stands at the brink of error, and at any time he may commit a sin.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((All the children of Adam are sinners, and the best of sinners are those who repent.)) (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, No. 2499; Ibn Majah, No. 4251) ... “All the children of Adam are prone to error, and the best of those who err are those who repent.” (Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has graded this as hasan.)
Because after committing a sin, through repentance and seeking forgiveness, the servant attains a nearness to Allah that he would not have attained had he not sinned. As Allah the Exalted says: ﴿Allah will replace their evil deeds with good deeds﴾ () ... “These are the people (who repent after sinning), Allah will turn their bad deeds into good deeds.”
➌ From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that the creation of the creatures is from water. Regarding humans, Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, has said: ﴿And He it is Who created man from water﴾ () ... “He is the One Who created man from water.”
