Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: Kafaf means sustenance sufficient for a person to fulfill his needs, such that he is neither in debt nor has so much that he eats to his fill in excess. Because when a person possesses abundant wealth and riches, he becomes engrossed in worldly comforts, which in turn affects his religion. The sole purpose of the sending of the noble Prophets (alayhimussalam) was to turn people’s attention away from worldly occupations and adornments towards the Hereafter, because the life of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was a model for the people, as Allah the Exalted says: ﴿لَقَدْكَانَلَكُمْفِيرَسُولِاللّٰهِأُسْوَةٌحَسَنَةٌ﴾ (: Al-Ahzab: 21) For this reason, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) used to supplicate with the aforementioned supplication. In another hadith, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr bin Al-As (radi Allahu anhuma) that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Successful is the one who is guided to Islam, is granted sustenance according to his need, and is content with it.” (Muslim, Book of Zakat, Hadith: 1054)
