Seeking refuge from knowledge, heart, soul, and supplication
Hadith 9
(حديث مرفوع) أَخْبَرَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، نا لَيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ عَبَّادِ بْنِ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيِّ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ : مِنْ عِلْمٍ لا يَنْفَعُ ، وَقَلْبٍ لا يَخْشَعُ ، وَمِنْ نَفْسٍ لا تَشْبَعُ ، وَمِنْ دُعَاءٍ لا يُسْمَعُ " .
Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from four things: from knowledge that is of no benefit, from a heart that does not fear, from a soul that is not satisfied, and from a supplication that is not answered."
