Hadith 873

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to me, and I recognized that something had prompted him to hurry. He did not speak to anyone, but performed ablution and went out. I heard him from among the rooms saying: "Allah says: O people! Enjoin good and forbid evil before a time comes when you pray to Allah and He does not accept your prayers, you ask Him and He does not grant you, and you seek His help and He does not help you."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
In the aforementioned hadith, along with the encouragement to enjoin good and forbid evil, the harms of neglecting this obligation are also mentioned. And Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, has called the Ummah of Muhammad the best Ummah, and the reason for this is that they enjoin good and forbid evil, as the statement of Allah, the Exalted, is: ﴿You are the best nation produced [as an example] for mankind. You enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong.﴾ (Aal-e-Imran: 110).... "You are the best nation brought forth for [the benefit of] mankind; you enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong."

Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, while describing the qualities of believing men and believing women, said: ﴿The believing men and believing women are allies of one another. They enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong.﴾ (At-Tawbah: 71).... "The believing men and believing women are allies of one another; they enjoin what is right and forbid what is wrong."

In a hadith, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id al-Khudri radi Allahu anhu that he said: I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say: "Whoever among you sees an evil, let him change it with his hand; if he is not able to do so, then with his tongue; and if he is not able to do so, then with his heart—and that is the weakest of faith." (Muslim, Kitab al-Iman, No. 49)
