Hadith 871

Sayyida Asma bint Yazid (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "The Dajjal will remain on the earth for forty years; a year will be like a month, a month like a week, a week like a day, and a day will be like a flame in the fire."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
The aforementioned narrations are weak; however, it is established from an authentic hadith that he (the Dajjal) will remain for forty days, as Sayyiduna Nawwas ibn Sam'an radi Allahu anhu reports: One day, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam mentioned the Dajjal and gave advice: "O servants of Allah! Remain steadfast." We asked: For how long will the Dajjal stay on the earth? He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: "Forty days, of which the first day will be equal to a year, the second day will be equal to a month, and the third day will be equal to a week, and the remaining thirty-seven days will be like your (normal) days and nights."

We asked: O Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam! On that first day which will be equal to a year, will the (five) daily prayers of one day suffice? He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: "No, estimate the (length of the) day and (perform) the prayers accordingly (for the whole year)." (Muslim, Kitab al-Fitan, Bab Dhikr al-Dajjal, No. 2937.
