Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that performing ritual bath (ghusl) in a naked state is permissible, as our master Musa (alayhis salam) performed ritual bath in this manner, and as previously mentioned, our master Ayyub (alayhis salam) also did so. However, the question arises that this pertains to the previous communities. So, are the laws of previous scriptures a proof for us? The answer is: the matters of previous communities which the Noble Qur’an has abrogated, or for which there is a clear hadith of Allah’s Messenger (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) that contradicts their law, then those are not a proof for us. And from the aforementioned incident of our master Musa (alayhis salam), it is established that one should perform ritual bath in a naked state while concealed from people, not in front of them. It is not permissible to bathe naked in front of people. As narrated from our master Ya’la ibn Umayyah (radi Allahu anhu), the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) saw a man bathing in an open place without a cloth, so he ascended the pulpit and praised Allah, then said: “Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, is extremely modest and veiling; He loves modesty and concealment. So when any of you performs ritual bath, let him conceal himself.” (Sunan Abi Dawud, no. 4012, its chain is authentic)
In the law of our master Musa (alayhis salam) as well, bathing together in a naked state was forbidden, but the Children of Israel, opposing our master Musa (alayhis salam), committed this unlawful act, and besides this, they would often remain distant from the Mosaic law due to their rebellion and disobedience. (Irshad al-Sari: 1/331. Umdat al-Qari: 1/386)
The stone running away with the clothes proves the miracle of our master Musa (alayhis salam). The question arises: why did this happen? The answer is that when an accusation was made against the Prophet, Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, caused this to happen in order to remove that accusation and defect from His Prophet. In the end of the hadith, the blessed verse that is mentioned is instructing the believers not to harm your Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) as the Children of Israel did. As, on one occasion, during the distribution of war booty, a man said that justice had not been done in this matter. When this reached the Noble Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), he became angry, so much so that his blessed face turned red, and he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “May Allah have mercy on Musa (alayhis salam), he was harmed with things much greater than this, but he remained patient.” (Muslim, Book of Zakat, Chapter: Giving to those whose hearts are to be reconciled to Islam, etc.)
