Hadith 862

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul! The world will not end until a man passes by a grave and says: 'Would that this were my grave!' He will not say this because of religion, but only because of (worldly) hardships."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that evil and corruption will become so widespread in the world that people will prefer death over life. In the present era, some people are surrounded by such trials that, due to them, they wish for death. In another hadith, it is stated:

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "The Hour will not be established until a man passes by a grave and, out of longing to meet Allah, says: Would that I were in his place." (Silsilat al-Sahihah, no. 578)

Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah said: According to a group among the Salaf, wishing for death at a time of religious corruption is established.

Imam Nawawi rahimahullah said: At such a time, wishing for death is not disliked (makruh), because the righteous predecessors (salaf salihin) have done so. As Sayyiduna Umar ibn al-Khattab radi Allahu anhu said. (Silsilat al-Sahihah, no. 578)
