Hadith 851

Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates in a marfu’ form that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “The destruction and ruin of this Ummah will be at the hands of young, foolish boys from the Quraysh.”

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
It is narrated in Sahih Bukhari: Amr bin Yahya bin Sa'id said that my grandfather (Sa'id) narrated to me: I was sitting with Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu in the Prophet’s Mosque in Madinah, and Marwan was also present there. At that moment, Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu said: I heard from the truthful Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and Allah declared him truthful, that he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam used to say: “My ummah will be destroyed at the hands of a few wicked people from Quraysh.” Marwan said: May Allah curse them. Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu said: If I wished to name their families, I could do so. Then, when Banu Marwan took control of the government of Syria, I used to go with my grandfather to them. When he saw the young boys there, he said: Perhaps these are among them. We said: You know better. (Sahih Bukhari, No. 7058)

Allamah Waheed al-Zaman rahimahullah writes in the commentary of the aforementioned hadith in “Taysir al-Bari”: The meaning of your statement is that the rule of wicked people is the root of corruption and destruction. Ultimately, that destruction befell the Muslims when the leader of the Muslims, Sayyiduna Husayn radi Allahu anhu, was martyred—he who was an adornment of Islam—and the sanctity of Madinah Munawwarah was violated, and many Companions and Followers (Tabi'in) were martyred in Madinah.
