Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that Allah, the Exalted, told every prophet: one of your supplications will certainly be accepted, and this same promise was made to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam as well. Every prophet, at some point in the world, made a supplication: “O Allah! Fulfill such-and-such desire of mine,” he supplicated, and that desire was fulfilled. However, the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam postponed this supplication for the Hereafter. On the Day of Resurrection, intercession (shafa‘ah) will be granted to you. Imam Nawawi rahimahullah states: In the aforementioned hadith, there is an expression of the Prophet’s sallallahu alayhi wa sallam perfect compassion for the ummah, in that he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam has deferred this accepted supplication for the intercession of the ummah until the difficult moments of the Day of Resurrection. In this, there is also evidence for those among Ahl al-Sunnah who die upon pure tawhid and do not associate partners with Allah, that they will not remain in Hellfire forever, even if they die persisting in major sins.
