Hadith 810

Sayyidah Umm Darda’ (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates from the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a marfu’ manner: He (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “Whoever has been given his portion of gentleness has been given his portion of goodness, and whoever is deprived of gentleness has been deprived of his portion of goodness to that extent.”

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, the virtue of gentleness is established: whoever is endowed with the quality of gentleness has been granted goodness and virtue, and whoever is deprived of it is entirely deprived of goodness and left empty-handed. Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Mas'ud radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Shall I not inform you about the person upon whom the Fire is forbidden, or the one for whom the Fire is forbidden? He is every approachable, gentle, and easy-going person.” (Silsilat al-Sahihah, no. 938)

Gentleness is among the attributes of Allah Dhu al-Jalal, and He loves that His servants also act with gentleness, as is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Harshness, wherever it is found, makes a thing unsightly. Indeed, Allah is Gentle and loves gentleness.” (Adab al-Mufrad, no. 466) Shaykh al-Albani rahimahullah has declared this narration authentic.
