Lying is allowed to reconcile between two Muslims
Hadith 808

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، نا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، وَابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ أَخْبَرَنَا أَيْضًا، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، عَنْ أُمِّهِ، وَهِيَ أُمِّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتِ عُقْبَةَ وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأَوَّلِ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ: ((لَيْسَ بِالْكَاذِبِ مَنْ أَصْلَحَ بَيْنَ اثْنَيْنِ فَقَالَ أَخِيرًا أَوْ نَمَا خَيْرًا)).
Sayyidah Umm Kulthum bint Uqbah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he said: "He is not a liar who reconciles between two people, he speaks good or conveys good."

The command to reconcile between two Muslims applies even if, in the process, one must resort to lying; in order to reduce hatred between them or to instill love and affection, explicit lying is permissible. However, today, in situations where lying is allowed, we insist on displaying truthfulness and thereby even thwart attempts at reconciliation. May Allah have mercy on our condition. Ameen.
