Hadith 806

Lady Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: Something struck Usama’s (may Allah be pleased with him) face and blood started to flow, so I washed his face and the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) wiped it with his shirt, and said: “Treat us well, while she is not a girl.” The narrator stated: Whenever the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) looked at the face of Usama (may Allah be pleased with him) after the death of his father (Zayd, may Allah be pleased with him), he would weep.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had deep love for Sayyiduna Usamah bin Zayd radi Allahu anhu, which is also evident from the aforementioned hadith. Both father and son were beloved to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. People used to call Sayyiduna Zayd radi Allahu anhu "Zayd bin Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam"; he was martyred in the Battle of Mu'tah and was the adopted son (mutabanna) of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. The respected mother of Sayyiduna Usamah radi Allahu anhu was Umm Ayman radi Allahu anha, in whose lap the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was raised. She was the slave woman of the Prophet’s noble father, Abdullah, whom the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam later freed.

It is understood from this that if children are distressed, they should be comforted, not scolded. It is permissible to adorn girls with jewelry and to dress them in good clothes.
