Hadith 782

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "The one who looks after widows and the poor is like the one who fights in the way of Allah. I and the one who takes care of an orphan will be like this (in Paradise)." He (peace be upon him) indicated with his index and middle fingers.

Explanation & Benefits

Benefits:
In the narration of Sahih Muslim it is stated: “When Allah, the Exalted, is hostile to a servant, He calls Jibril and says: ‘I am hostile to so-and-so, so you also be hostile to him.’ Thus, Jibril also becomes hostile to him. Then he announces among the inhabitants of the heavens that Allah, the Exalted, is hostile to so-and-so, so you all be hostile to him. Then hostility is placed for him on the earth (i.e., the people of the earth also harbor hatred and enmity towards him).” (Muslim, Kitab al-Birr wa al-Silah: 2737)

From the aforementioned hadith, the affirmation of the speech of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, is established, and it is also a refutation of those who say that there are no letters in the speech of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty. Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, speaks, but how He speaks: ﴿لَیْسَ کَمِثْلِهٖ شَـْیٌٔ﴾ (“There is nothing like unto Him”). And in the aforementioned hadith, the reward of being beloved to Allah is mentioned—not only is such a person beloved to Allah, but he also becomes beloved to the inhabitants of the heavens and the earth.

Now the question arises: how can one become beloved to Allah, the Possessor of Majesty? Its explanation is in the Noble Qur’an: ﴿قُلْ اِنْ كُنْتُمْ تُحِبُّوْنَ اللّٰهَ فَاتَّبِعُوْنِیْ یُحْبِبْكُمُ اللّٰهُ وَ یَغْفِرْلَكُمْ ذُنُوْبَكُمْ﴾ (Aal Imran: 31) ... “Say: If you love Allah, then follow me; Allah will love you and forgive you your sins.”

It is thus known that the means of attaining the love of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, is following the Messenger. And in another hadith: It is narrated from Sayyidah Aisha radi Allahu anha that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam sent a man as the leader of a military expedition. He would lead his companions in prayer and would always conclude his recitation (in every rak‘ah) with “Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad.” When they returned, they informed the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and he said: “Ask him: why does he do this?” So they asked him, and he replied: “In it is the attribute of the Most Merciful (ar-Rahman), so I love to recite it (more often).”

The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam (upon hearing this) said: “Inform him that Allah, the Exalted, also loves him.” (Bukhari, no. 7375; Muslim, no. 813)

It is thus known that by reciting the aforementioned surah abundantly, one also attains the love of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty.
