Hadith 779

أَخْبَرَنَا بَقِيَّةُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَرْطَاةُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ الْأَعْوَرِ، وَكَانَ مِنْ جُلَسَاءِ أَبِي عَمْرٍو سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ، قَالَ: ((مَا تَكَلَّمَ الْمُؤْمِنُ كَلِمَةً حَسَنَةً إِلَّا وَدُونَهَا أَلْيَنُ مِنْهَا تَجْرِي مَجْرَاهَا)) .
Abu Awn Al-A'war narrated: Whenever a believer says something good, the next thing he says is even gentler than the previous one.

It is understood that a believer is a reflection of gentle speech and high character. May Allah, the Exalted, instill within us praiseworthy qualities such as gentleness and forbearance (hilm). Whoever is deprived of gentleness is deprived of many virtues.
