أَخْبَرَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عُبَادَةَ، نا شُعْبَةُ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَتِيقٍ، رَجُلٌ مِنْ مَلِيكَةَ، عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ: ((أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ جَوْفُ أَحَدِكُمْ قَيْحًا خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَمْتَلِئَ شِعْرًا)) ، قَالَ ابْنُ عَتِيقٍ: فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِيَزِيدَ بْنِ الْأَصَمِّ، فَقَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يَذْكُرُ مِثْلَ ذَلِكَ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ.
Abdullah narrated: For any of you to have his belly filled with pus is better for him than to have it filled with poetry. Atiq narrated: I mentioned this to Yazid bin Al-Asam, so he said: I heard Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) mention the same from the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him).
