Hadith 746

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever deliberately lies about me, let him take his place in Hell." When the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) mentioned this, he said: "A righteous man's dream is one forty-sixth part of prophethood."

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that the fate of those who deliberately lie against the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is Hellfire. To fabricate a lie means to invent something from oneself and attribute it to the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, presenting it as a hadith.

In the explanation of this hadith, Allamah Ibn Hajar rahimahullah writes that the wisdom behind the severity regarding fabricating lies against the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is clear, because he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam conveys matters from Allah Ta’ala. Thus, to attribute a false statement to him sallallahu alayhi wa sallam is as if one is attributing a lie to Allah Ta’ala, and regarding those who fabricate lies against Allah Ta’ala, the statement of Allah Ta’ala is:

“And who is more unjust than one who invents a lie against Allah or denies His verses?”

In another verse it is stated: ﴿وَیَوْمَ الْقِیٰمَةِ تَرَی الَّذِیْنَ کَذَبُوْا عَلٰی اللّٰهِ وُجُوْهُهُمْ مُسْوَدَّةٌ﴾ (az-Zumar: 60)
“And on the Day of Resurrection you will see those who lied against Allah, their faces will be blackened.” (Fath al-Bari: 6/541)

In another hadith, which Imam Tabarani has narrated from Sayyiduna Aws ibn Aws radi Allahu anhu, he stated that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever lies against his Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, or upon his own two eyes, or upon his parents, will not even smell the fragrance of Paradise.” (Majma’ az-Zawa’id: 1/148)

Allamah Qurtubi rahimahullah states: In (فَلْیَتَبَوَّا مَقْعَدَہٗ مِنَ النَّارِ) the verb is in the imperative form, and what is meant by it is threat and warning. Regarding its meaning, it has also been said that it is a supplication from the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam against such a person, that Allah Ta’ala make his abode the Fire of Hell. Another opinion regarding its meaning is that he will be punished in the Fire of Hell. (al-Mufhim: 1/144; Fath al-Bari: 1/200)
