Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that seeing the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in a dream is possible, and whoever sees the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in a dream, in reality, sees him and not anyone else, provided that he remembers the blessed appearance (hilya) of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, or if he has seen him in a dream, then he should look in the books of hadith; if the appearance matches, then the dream is true. Ask a scholar who knows the blessed appearance of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. As is mentioned in the narrations, Nadhir Farsi says: I saw the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in a dream during the time of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma and related this dream to him. Sayyiduna Abdullah radi Allahu anhu said that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Indeed, Satan does not have the ability to assume my likeness, so whoever sees me in a dream has truly seen me.” Then Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma said to that man: Can you describe the attributes of the person you saw in your dream? He said: Yes! I saw that there was a man between two men, his body and flesh were wheat-colored tending towards whiteness, his eyes were kohl-lined, he was smiling in a beautiful manner, his face was beautifully rounded, and he had a large and thick beard filling the upper part of his chest.
Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma said: If you had seen the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam while awake, you could not have described his attributes any better than this. (Musnad Ahmad: 1/361. Mukhtasar Shama’il Tirmidhi, no. 347)
From the above hadith, it is understood that Satan cannot assume the form of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, but by assuming the form of a pious elder, Satan can mislead people by claiming, “I am the Messenger of Allah.” Therefore, every Muslim should memorize the blessed appearance (hilya) of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
