Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that one should eat and drink with the right hand, not with the left hand, because doing so is prohibited and there is resemblance to Shaytan in it. When resemblance to sinful and immoral people is prohibited, then resemblance to Shaytan is, all the more so, not permissible.
In Sahih al-Bukhari, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said to Sayyiduna ‘Umar ibn Abi Salamah (radi Allahu anhu): ((Yā ghulāmu sammillāha wa kul biyamīnika wa kul mimmā yalīka)) (Bukhari, no. 5376; Muslim, no. 2022).... “O boy, say ‘Bismillah’, eat with your right hand, and eat from what is in front of you.”
