Hadith 725

Abul-Ma'arik Bahjaheemi narrated: I asked Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) about drinking while standing. He said: I was with the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), I was holding the camel’s rein in my hand while he (peace be upon him) was riding it, my feet were on its shoulders. Then the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) asked for a drink and drank it, then he (peace and blessings be upon him) gave it to such and such person who was on his right side, and he (peace and blessings be upon him) left me at that place. So if you do not see others being given preference over me after me, then do not consider it blameworthy. Abul-Ma'arik said: I heard Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) saying: Whoever is in debt and is well-off, yet does not pay it, then he is like one who eats what is forbidden.
