Hadith Takhrij«انظر ما قبله .»
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: In another hadith, it is mentioned that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “A man was dragging his lower garment, so Allah caused him to be swallowed up, and he will continue to sink down into the depths of the earth until the Day of Resurrection.” (Bukhari, no. 5790)
It is understood from this that a person should avoid lowly and blameworthy actions such as arrogance and pride. If one is granted beauty, or beautiful clothing, or beautiful hair on the head, or beautiful shoes, then one should thank Allah for these, and not, by adopting arrogance and pride, consider others to be insignificant, because arrogant people are not liked by Allah, the Possessor of Majesty. As Allah says: ﴿وَلَاتُصَعِّرْخَدَّكَلِلنَّاسِوَلَاتَمْشِفِیالْاَرْضِمَرَحًااِنَّاللّٰهَلَایُحِبُّکُلَّمُخْتَالٍفَخُوْرٍ﴾ (Luqman: 18) “And do not turn your cheek away from people (out of contempt and considering yourself great), and do not walk upon the earth exultantly, for Allah does not like every self-deluded and boastful person.”
Regarding the aforementioned hadith, the person mentioned therein refers to someone from the previous nations. Some have taken this person to mean Qarun, or have said that he was a man from Hazen Fars. However, Hafiz Ibn Hajar rahimahullah states that no specific individual is meant by this; rather, it is possible that it refers to multiple incidents and persons.
