Hadith 679

Muhammad bin Hatib narrated: My mother took me to the Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him). She had made broth, and it spilled on my body. The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) said something, but I did not know what it was. When the era of Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) came, my mother told me: The Messenger of Allah (peace be upon him) had recited this supplication: "Lord of the people! Remove the illness. You are the Healer. Grant healing. There is no healer except You."

Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that if someone falls ill, or if someone’s body is burned, or if someone has an accident, then one should visit such a person and supplicate to Allah Ta’ala for his recovery. Because He alone grants healing and removes affliction. The statement of Allah Ta’ala is:
“…And if Allah should touch you with harm, then none can remove it except Him. And if He intends good for you, then there is none who can repel His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills among His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful.”

One should supplicate for the sick person. The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “If any Muslim visits a sick Muslim and says these words seven times, he will be granted well-being, unless his time of death has arrived:
(Sahih Tirmidhi, No: 1698)
‘I ask Allah, the Magnificent, Lord of the Magnificent Throne, to cure you.’”
