Abu’l-Hakam al-Bahili narrates: I went to Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) while he was having cupping done, so he said: Abu’l-Hakam! Have you ever had cupping done? He replied: I have never had cupping done. So Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: Abu’l-Qasim (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that Jibril (peace be upon him) told him that among the things people use for treatment, cupping is the most beneficial.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: Cupping (hijamah) is an excellent method of treatment in which blood is drawn from the body in a specific manner. When blood pressure increases in a part of the body or there is a surge in it, blood is sucked from that area using a sharp instrument. Among the Arabs, this was considered an excellent method of treatment.
In another narration, it is reported from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Healing is in three things: in cupping (hijamah), in drinking honey, and in cauterization with fire. But I forbid my ummah from cauterization with fire.” (Bukhari, no. 5680; Sunan Ibn Majah, no. 3491)
The best time for cupping (hijamah) is on the 17th, 19th, and 21st of the lunar month. As narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, indicating the beneficial time for cupping, said: “Whoever has cupping done on the 17th, 19th, or 21st of the month, he will be cured of all diseases.” (Abu Dawud: 3861; Silsilah Sahihah: 622)
