Chapter
Hadith 652
اَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُالْاَعْلٰی، نَا دَاوٗدَ۔ وَهُوَ ابْنُ اَبِیْ هِنْدٍ۔ عَنْ عِکْرِمَةَ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ اَنَّ رَسُوْلَ اللّٰهِ صَلَّی اللّٰهُ عَلَیْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَزَوَّجَ قَتِیْلَةَ اُخْتِ الْاَشْعَثَ بْنَ قَیْسٍ، فَمَاتَ قَبْلَ اَنْ یُّخَیِّرَهَا، فَبَرَأَهَا اللّٰهُ مِنْهُ.
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) married Qutaylah, the sister of Ash'ath bin Qays (may Allah be pleased with him), but he passed away before consummating the marriage with her, so Allah absolved him of her.
