Hadith 63

Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "There is no contagious disease, nor is there any reality in bad omens. I like to take good omens."

Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that good omen (optimism) is permissible. In Sahih Bukhari, it is narrated that Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu said that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((There is no tiyarah (superstitious belief in omens), and the best of it is a good omen.)) ... “There is no basis for bad omens, and the best among them is a good omen.” The people asked, “What is a good omen?” The Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam replied: ((A good word that one of you hears.)) (Bukhari, no. 5755) ... “A righteous word (kalimah salihah) that one of you hears.”

In another narration, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam referred to a good omen as “al-kalimah al-hasanah” (a pleasant word), upon which Imam al-Kirmani rahimahullah wrote that from this it is understood that Allah Ta’ala has placed the love of good omens in human nature, just as one feels comfort upon seeing a pleasing scene or clear water, even if that water is not used. (Awn al-Ma’bud)

On the occasion of the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, when Suhayl ibn Amr came, the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Allah has made your matter easy.)) (Bukhari, nos. 2731, 2732; Musnad Ahmad: 4/328) “Allah has made your affair easy.”
