Hadith 581

Ibn Abi Mulaykah narrated: It was asked from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) about children, whether they will be in Paradise. He replied: Musa and Khidr (peace be upon them) debated about this matter, and that is sufficient for you.

Hadith Takhrij «مستدرك حاكم : 401/2 . اسناده صحيح .»
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
The indication of Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma was towards this verse: ﴿So they set out until, when they met a boy, he (Khidr) killed him. Musa (alayhis salam) said, "Have you killed a pure soul for other than a soul?"﴾ () ... "Then both (Sayyiduna Musa and Sayyiduna Khidr alayhim as-salam) set out until they found a boy, and he (Khidr) killed him. Musa alayhis salam said, 'Have you killed a pure soul without (it having killed) another soul in exchange?'" Then Sayyiduna Khidr alayhis salam said: ﴿And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would overburden them by transgression and disbelief.﴾ () ... "And as for the boy, his parents were believers, and we feared that he would cause them hardship through his rebellion and disbelief."

The meaning of what Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma said is that in reality, Allah Dhu’l-Jalal alone knows whether the child, had he grown up, would have become righteous or evil, because Sayyiduna Khidr alayhis salam was given knowledge from Allah Dhu’l-Jalal. It is established from authentic narration that the children of Muslims will enter Paradise.
