Narrated with the same chain, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Islam began as something strange, and it will return to being strange at its end."

Hadith Takhrij«مسلم ، كتاب الايمان ، باب بيان ان الاسلام بدا غريباو . . . . . ، سنن ترمذي ، رقم : 2629 . سنن ابن ماجه ، رقم : 3986»
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: It is understood that in the beginning, Islam was something strange, and no one knew it, and people were not ready to accept Islam, and they tried to eradicate it. But gradually, Islam spread. And after the era of the Rightly Guided Caliphs (radi Allahu anhum), people again began to distance themselves from the religion of Islam; those who professed Islam adopted the ways of others and introduced new things into Islam. Even in the present era, only a few people adhere to Islam. Although Muslims are great in number, they do not act upon the commands of Islam.
