Benefits:
Sayyiduna Hasan radi Allahu anhu: His name was Hasan bin Ali bin Abu Talib bin Abdul Muttalib bin Hashim bin Abd Manaf al-Qurashi al-Hashimi. His kunyah was Abu Muhammad. His mother was the Lady of Paradise, Sayyidah Fatimah al-Zahra radi Allahu anha. He was born in the month of Ramadan in the year 3 Hijri. He had eleven sons and one daughter. He spent most of his time in Madinah Munawwarah. In the year 50 Hijri, he passed away at approximately 47 years of age. His funeral prayer was led by Sayyiduna Sa’id bin ‘As radi Allahu anhu, and he was buried in Jannat al-Baqi’.
Sayyiduna Husayn radi Allahu anhu: His name was Husayn bin Ali bin Abu Talib radi Allahu anhuma. His kunyah was Abu Abdullah, and he was the son of Sayyidah Fatimah al-Zahra radi Allahu anha. He was born in the month of Sha’ban in the year 4 Hijri. At the time of the passing of the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, his blessed age was about 6 years. He had four sons and two daughters. In the land of Iraq, in the field of Karbala, on Friday, the 10th of Muharram, 61 Hijri, he was martyred at approximately 57 years of age.
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that loving Sayyiduna Hasan and Husayn radi Allahu anhuma is a sign of faith. Because loving them is just like loving the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, and whoever does not have love for these two princes in his heart, does not have love for the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in his heart. And whoever does not have love for the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam in his heart, cannot be a believer. As is mentioned in Sahih Muslim, Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu narrates that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Lā yu’minu ‘abdun ḥattā akūna aḥabba ilayhi min ahlihi wa mālihi wa al-nāsi ajma‘īn))
“No servant can be a believer until I become more beloved to him than his family, his wealth, and all people.”
In another hadith it is stated: ((Uḥibbuhumā fa-aḥibbahumā wa-aḥibb man yuḥibbuhumā)) “I love both of them, O Allah! So love both of them, and love whoever loves them.”
In Sahih Bukhari, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Humā rayḥānatāya min al-dunyā)) (Bukhari, no. 3753)
“These two are my two flowers from this world.”
In another hadith, he sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: ((Al-Hasanu wa al-Husayn sayyidā shabābi ahl al-jannah.)) (Silsilat al-Sahihah, no. 797; Mustadrak Hakim: 3/166) “Hasan and Husayn are the leaders of the youth of Paradise.”
