Benefits:
➊ ...The good qualities that Allah has placed within human beings remain qualities of goodness in Islam as well.
➋ ...It is understood from the aforementioned hadith that those people who do not desire office or position—if such people are given a position, they will prove to be better for the public, because they will possess particular abilities and aptitudes, and along with them will be the help of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty. As is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Sa‘id ‘Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said to me: “O ‘Abd al-Rahman bin Samurah! Do not ask for any position of authority, for if you are given it without asking, you will be helped (by Allah) in it, but if you are given it as a result of asking, it will be left to you (i.e., Allah’s help will not be with you).” (Bukhari, Kitab al-Iman wa al-Nudhur, no. 6722; Muslim, no. 1652)
➌ ...By “two-faced” is meant someone who pleases every group: when he comes to one, he makes them believe that he is their well-wisher, and when he goes to the other, he speaks in such a way as if he is their sympathizer. In other words, what he said to the first party, he said with one face, and with the second party, he took on another face and spoke, adopting duplicity in his speech. Such a person’s single face is considered as two faces, because a person of honor, when he says something with his tongue, feels ashamed to say the opposite with the same tongue, whereas a person without conscience or honor plays the role of two faces with one tongue. Therefore, the punishment for this evil act on the Day of Resurrection will be that such people will have two tongues. As is narrated from Sayyiduna ‘Ammar bin Yasir radi Allahu anhu, he heard the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say: “Whoever has two faces in this world (who is two-faced), on the Day of Resurrection he will have two tongues of fire.” (Sunan Abi Dawud, no. 4873; Silsilah Sahihah, no. 892)
