It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that on the day of the Battle of Badr, while the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) was in a tent, he said: "O Allah! I ask You by Your covenant and Your promise." Then Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him) said: O Messenger of Allah! You have supplicated to your Lord with great persistence. Then he (the Prophet) came out (of the tent), and was saying: "To Him belongs greatness in the heavens. Rather, the appointed time for them is the Day of Resurrection, and the Day of Resurrection is a great calamity and a very distressing thing."
