Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
In the aforementioned hadith, the woman mentioned refers to the maternal aunt of Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik radi Allahu anhu, Umm Haram bint Milhan radi Allahu anha. (Sahih Bukhari, No: 2799)
It is stated in "Karmani Sharh Bukhari": She had a relationship of mahram with the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. What was this relationship? Regarding this, Hafiz Ibn Abd al-Barr rahimahullah has transmitted that she was his foster maternal aunt, and some scholars have said that she was the aunt of his father or grandfather, because the grandmother of his grandfather Abdul Muttalib was from the tribe of Banu Najjar, which was a tribe of the Ansar.
From the above-mentioned hadith, the virtue of those who participate in naval jihad is established. The very first Muslim naval force was prepared by Sayyiduna Amir Muawiyah radi Allahu anhu on the order of Sayyiduna Uthman radi Allahu anhu during his era. (Fath al-Bari, Kitab al-Jihad, Bab Ghazwat al-Mar’ah fi al-Bahr: 6/94)
Sayyiduna Anas radi Allahu anhu narrates: When the Muslims undertook their first sea voyage in the company of Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan radi Allahu anhuma, Umm Haram radi Allahu anha also set out for jihad along with her husband, Sayyiduna Ubadah bin Samit radi Allahu anhu. When they returned from the battle, they stopped (during the journey) at a place in Syria. At the time of departure, a riding animal was brought near her so she could mount it, but the animal caused her to fall, and she passed away. (Bukhari, No: 2799, 2800)
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that women can also participate in jihad, provided that a mahram accompanies them. The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: The jihad of women is to perform Hajj. (Bukhari, Kitab al-Jihad, Bab Jihad al-Nisa’)
Whoever participates in jihad, if he dies an accidental death, he is a martyr (shahid). As Imam Bukhari rahimahullah has deduced from this blessed verse:
﴿وَ مَنْ یَّخْرُجْ مِنْم بَیْتِہٖ مُہَا جِرًا اِلَی اللّٰهِ وَ رَسُوْلِهٖ ثُمَّ یُدْرِکْهُ الْمَوْتُ فَقَدْ وَقَعَ اَجْرُهٗ عَلَی اللّهہِ﴾ (al-Nisa: 100)
...“Whoever leaves his home as an emigrant to Allah and His Messenger, and then death overtakes him on the way, his reward has become incumbent upon Allah.” In the verse, the meaning of وَقَعَ is وَجَبَ (has become obligatory). (Bukhari, Kitab al-Jihad, Bab Fadl man yusra‘ fi sabil Allah fa mata fahuwa minhum)
The prophecy made by the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam was fulfilled exactly as he foretold. This is a proof of the Prophethood of the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam.
