Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
In the aforementioned hadith, there is mention of how the Muslim army entered the sacred city of Makkah and the manner in which they entered. On this occasion, the treatment that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) extended to the Quraysh of Makkah and his declaration of a general amnesty is unparalleled in history. On this occasion, the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ➊ Whoever lays down his weapons shall not be killed. ➋ Whoever enters the House of Allah (the Ka'bah) shall not be killed. ➌ Whoever remains in his house shall not be killed. ➍ Whoever enters the house of Abu Sufyan (radi Allahu anhu) shall not be killed. ➎ Whoever enters the house of Hakim ibn Hizam shall not be killed. ➏ Those who flee shall not be pursued. ➐ The elderly, children, women, and the wounded shall not be killed. ➑ Prisoners shall also not be killed. (Al-Bidayah wa’l-Nihayah: 3/288-289)

The Quraysh of Makkah had committed great atrocities, yet the Prophet (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam), overlooking those wrongs, said: ((Lā tathrība ʿalaykumu al-yawma yaghfiru Allahu lakum wa huwa arham al-rāḥimīn)) “Today there is no blame or reproach upon you; may Allah forgive you, and He is the Most Merciful of those who show mercy.”
