Description of Salam and Salaf sales
Hadith 464

اَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُالرَّزَّاقِ، نَا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ اَبِیْ نُجَیْحٍ، عَنْ اَبِی الْمِنْهَالِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ مِثْلَ ذٰلِكَ.
Abu Al-Minhāl narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) a narration similar to this.

Benefits:
In the aforementioned hadith, there is mention of Bay‘ Salam and Salaf. This is such that receiving the price in advance and delivering the item at the appointed time is a permissible sale. On the condition that the quantity and type of the item being sold and purchased, the time of delivery and receipt of the required item, and other such matters in which there is a possibility of dispute, should be determined in advance. In reality, this sale would have been impermissible due to the item being non-existent at the time of contract, but due to economic interests, leniency and ease have been granted for people, and it has been made an exception. (Bidayat al-Mujtahid: 2/199. Al-Mughni: 4/275)
