Fasting in Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr are communal acts of worship
Hadith 416
أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ، نا مَعْمَرٌ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ قَالَ: ((صَوْمُكُمْ يَوْمَ تَصُومُونَ وَفِطْرُكُمْ يَوْمَ تُفْطِرُونَ)) .
Sayyiduna Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), he (peace be upon him) said: "Your fast is on the day when you (see the moon and) begin fasting, and your Eid al-Fitr is on the day when you (complete Ramadan and) stop fasting."
