Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
The call of the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) was for the entire nation and for all of humanity, but preferentially it was for his relatives, just as our master Ibrahim (alayhis salam) first gave the call to tawhid (monotheism) to his father Azar.
In another narration, it is reported from our master Ibn Abbas (radi Allahu anhuma) that when this verse: «وَأَنذِرْ عَشِيرَتَكَ الْأَقْرَبِينَ» [26-الشعراء:214] was revealed, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) came out of his house until he climbed Mount Safa. There, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) called out: “Ya sabaha!” (This phrase was used to gather people when a great event had occurred.) All the people said: What is this? Then they gathered around him (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam). He (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “O people! What do you think, if I were to inform you that a cavalry is about to emerge from behind this mountain, would you believe me?” All said: Our experience is that we have never found you to be a liar. Upon hearing this reply, he (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “Then I warn you of a severe punishment.” Hearing this, Abu Lahab stood up and said: May you perish! Did you gather us for this? Then Allah, the Exalted, revealed Surah Tabbat in response to him. [بخاري ، رقم ، : 4981 ۔ مسلم ، رقم : 208]
It is also understood from this that on the Day of Resurrection, lineage and ancestry will be of no benefit; rather, salvation will be based only on faith and righteous deeds, just as when our master Nuh (alayhis salam) prayed to Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, regarding his son, He said: «يَا نُوحُ إِنَّهُ لَيْسَ مِنْ أَهْلِكَ ۖ إِنَّهُ عَمَلٌ غَيْرُ صَالِحٍ» [11-هود:46]
It is also known that on the Day of Resurrection, the polytheist disbeliever will not attain salvation, nor will intercession be accepted on their behalf.
At the end of the hadith, it is mentioned: I will maintain the ties of kinship. The meaning is that, as an act of upholding kinship (silat ar-rahm), I will do whatever is possible. Because this is a worldly matter. It is understood from this that one should maintain ties even with polytheist relatives.
