Benefits:
➊ It is understood that the gravity of a sin increases according to the status of the criminal. Although arrogance, lying, and adultery (zina) are among the major sins (kabirah), if an old man commits adultery, the crime becomes even greater. This is because he should be concerned about the grave and the Day of Judgment, and at this age, compared to youth, a person's desires also decrease. Despite this, if he commits adultery, it means that his temperament is extremely corrupted and his heart is completely devoid of the fear of Allah. Whereas Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, has described the qualities of the believers as follows: «وَلَا يَقْتُلُونَ النَّفْسَ الَّتِي حَرَّمَ اللَّهُ إِلَّا بِالْحَقِّ وَلَا يَزْنُونَ» [25-الفرقان:68]
And in another place He said: «وَالْحَافِظِينَ فُرُوجَهُمْ وَالْحَافِظَاتِ وَالذَّاكِرِينَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَالذَّاكِرَاتِ أَعَدَّ اللَّهُ لَهُم مَّغْفِرَةً وَأَجْرًا عَظِيمًا» [33-الأحزاب:35]
"And the men who guard their private parts and the women who guard (theirs), and the men who remember Allah much and the women who remember (Him much), for all of them Allah has prepared forgiveness and a great reward."
➋ A lying king... His sin is also very great, because he possesses all kinds of authority and resources, and there is no pressure upon him from anyone. Yet, if he still lies, it means that there is no fear of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, in his heart.
➌ Arrogance... This is a very great crime. Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, does not like such people, as the statement of the Exalted Lord is: «إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَن كَانَ مُخْتَالًا فَخُورًا» [4-النساء:36]
"Indeed, Allah does not like every arrogant boaster."
But if this arrogance is shown by a poor and destitute person, his sin increases, because arrogance arises when a person possesses wealth and riches, and if, despite being deprived of these means, he still displays pride, it means that there is no fear of Allah in his heart. Therefore, compared to a wealthy person, the display of arrogance by such a person is even worse.
