Hadith 35

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: (Regarding the explanation of this verse «مَن جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ خَيْرٌ مِّنْهَا وَهُم مِّن فَزَعٍ يَوْمَئِذٍ آمِنُونَ» “Whoever does good, there is something better for him, and they will be safe from the terror of that Day.”) He said: “By this, «لا اله الا الله» is meant.” And «وَمَن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ» “Whoever does evil, they will be thrown down on their faces into Hell. (That evil) is shirk (associating partners with Allah).”

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
➊ From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that the verse of the Noble Qur’an: «مَن جَاءَ بِالْحَسَنَةِ فَلَهُ خَيْرٌ . . . . . . .
It is understood that the statement of tawhid (the declaration of Allah’s oneness) possesses great virtue, by virtue of which a servant will be protected from every kind of distress on the Day of Resurrection.
The statement of Allah, the Exalted, is:
“They will not be grieved by the greatest terror, and the angels will receive them (with greetings).”
➋ It is also understood that «وَمَن جَاءَ بِالسَّيِّئَةِ فَكُبَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ فِي النَّارِ» [27-النمل:90] refers to those who commit shirk (associate partners with Allah), and their end is the Hellfire.
In another place, Allah, the Exalted, says:
“Indeed, Allah does not forgive associating partners with Him, but He forgives what is less than that for whom He wills.”
Because shirk (associating partners with Allah) is a very great injustice. The right of Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, is given by a person to another, and for this reason, such people will be cast into Hellfire forever.
