Abu Bakr bin Abdur Rahman bin Harith bin Hisham narrated from a woman of the Ashja‘ tribe (Umm Ma‘qil, may Allah be pleased with her) that she intended to perform ‘Umrah in Ramadan, while her husband had a camel which he had given in the way of Allah. She mentioned this to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), so he said: “Give it to her, for performing ‘Umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj.”

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits: From the aforementioned ahadith, it is understood that performing ‘umrah in the blessed month of Ramadan is equal to performing hajj; meaning, Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, will grant its reward equal to that of hajj. It does not mean that the obligation of hajj is lifted; rather, whoever has hajj obligatory upon him must still perform hajj.
It is mentioned in Sahih al-Bukhari that the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) asked Umm Sinan (radi Allahu anha): “Why did you not perform hajj with us?” She presented the excuse of not having a riding animal. Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: ((For indeed, ‘umrah in Ramadan is equivalent to hajj or hajj with me.)) (Bukhari, Kitab al-‘Umrah, No. 1863) ... “Performing ‘umrah in Ramadan is equal to performing hajj with me.”
