Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
On the day of sacrifice (the 10th of Dhul-Hijjah), upon reaching Mina, one should first perform the stoning (rami) of the pebbles, then offer the sacrifice (qurbani), then have the hair shaved (halq) or trimmed (taqsir), and after that proceed to Makkah Mukarramah to perform the Tawaf al-Ifadah. It is best to observe this order, but if the order is not maintained, there is no harm. Stoning at Jamrah al-Aqabah is obligatory (wajib). If, for any reason, one is unable to perform the stoning, then it becomes obligatory to offer a sacrifice of an animal. The best time to stone Jamrah al-Aqabah is after sunrise, during the forenoon (duha), as narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma. The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "Do not throw the pebbles before sunrise." (Sahih Abu Dawud, no. 1710; Sunan Ibn Majah, no. 3025)

And one should continue reciting the talbiyah until the time of stoning the pebbles. Saying "Allahu Akbar" at the time of throwing each pebble is Sunnah. As Sayyiduna Fadl ibn Abbas radi Allahu anhuma narrates: I was riding behind the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. He continued to recite the talbiyah until he stoned Jamrah al-Aqabah. He sallallahu alayhi wa sallam threw seven pebbles at Jamrah al-Aqabah and said "Allahu Akbar" with each pebble. (Sunan Nasa'i, Kitab al-Manasik, Bab al-Takbir, its chain is authentic)

All seven pebbles should be thrown separately, and the pebbles should be very small. Because the meaning of "khadhf" is to throw a pebble with the fingertips (which is approximately the size of a grain of iron). (Al-Munjid, p. 197)

It is not correct to throw large stones or to strike with shoes.
