Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Some people will leave Madinah out of aversion, while Madinah is better for them—if only they knew."

From the aforementioned hadith, the virtue of residing in Madinah Munawwarah is established.

In another hadith, it is mentioned that Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Amr radi Allahu anhuma said: I heard the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam say: “Whoever remains in Madinah, bearing hunger, thirst, and hardship with patience, I will be his intercessor or witness on the Day of Resurrection.” (Muslim, Kitab al-Hajj, Hadith: 1377)

The Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Whoever has the ability to die in Madinah, let him die there, for whoever dies in Madinah in a state of faith, I will surely intercede for him.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, Chapters on Virtues, Chapter: The Virtue of Madinah)
