Narrated by Abu Huraira (may Allah be pleased with him): Whoever performs Hajj to this House and does not commit any obscenity or sin, he becomes as free from sins as he was on the day his mother gave birth to him.
Hadith Referenceمسند اسحاق بن راهويه / كتاب المناسك / 303
Benefits: From the mentioned hadith, the virtue of Hajj is established, that through it sins are forgiven, provided that one does not commit any obscene act or sin.
The literal meaning of "rafath" is to have sexual intercourse. However, here it refers to obscene speech and indecency, and to expressing sexual desire verbally to one's wife. When it is prohibited to speak of sexual desires with one's wife during the journey of Hajj, then how can it be permissible to look at a non-mahram woman with lustful intent?
By "fisq" is meant disobedience to Allah, the Possessor of Majesty, and quarrelling. One should especially avoid these during the days of Hajj. Allah the Exalted says: ﴿اَلْحَجُّاَشْهُرٌمَّعْلُوْمٰتٌفَمَنْفَرَضَفِیْهِنَّالْحَجَّفَلَارَفَثَوَلَافُسُوْقَوَلَاجِدَالَفِیالْحَجِّ﴾ () “…The Hajj is (in) well-known months, so whoever undertakes the obligation of Hajj in them, then let there be no sexual relations, nor disobedience, nor disputing during Hajj.” ()
From the above hadith, it is understood that by performing Hajj, sins are forgiven. In another hadith, the Messenger of Allah (sallallahu alayhi wa sallam) said: “One ‘umrah to the next ‘umrah is an expiation for what is between them, and the reward for an accepted Hajj (hajj mabrur) is nothing but Paradise.” (Bukhari, no. 1773; Muslim, no. 1349)
