Lady Umm Salamah (may Allah be pleased with her) narrated: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) came to us one day while the color of his face had changed. I realized that something was troubling him. I said: O Messenger of Allah! What is the reason that I see the color of your face has changed? The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: “Are you not aware of those nine dinars that came to us yesterday, and the night passed while we had not spent them?”
Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
From the aforementioned hadith, it is understood that the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam did not like to keep worldly wealth with himself, and it is also known that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam had great love for charity and almsgiving. In Sahih al-Bukhari, it is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah radi Allahu anhu that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: "If I had gold equal to the mountain of Uhud, I would love (to spend it in the way of truth so quickly) that not even three nights would pass and any of it would remain with me, except for that portion which I would keep to pay off a debt." (Bukhari, no. 6445)
