Hadith 243

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah, may Allah be pleased with him, that a slave woman or a man used to clean the mosque. When the Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessings be upon him, did not find him, he inquired about him. They said: He has passed away. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Why did you not inform me about him?" They replied, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Show me his grave." So the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, came to his grave and offered his funeral prayer.

Explanation & Benefits
Hafiz Abdush Shakoor Tirmidhi
Benefits:
It is mentioned in Sunan al-Bayhaqi that the name of this female Companion was Umm Mihjan radi Allahu anha. (Sunan al-Kubra al-Bayhaqi: 4/48)
It is understood from this that a leader and chief should take care of his subjects; this establishes the relationship and humility of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam with the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum.

In another hadith, it is mentioned that the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “Why did you not inform me?” They replied: “You were resting at noon and you were fasting, so we did not like to trouble you.” (Sunan Ibn Majah, no. 1528)
It is understood from this that the noble Companions radi Allahu anhum were extremely considerate of the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam. From this, the younger ones should learn to be considerate of the comfort of their elders.

From the aforementioned hadith, the virtue of cleaning the mosque is also established, as due to this act the Messenger of Allah sallallahu alayhi wa sallam went to her grave and performed the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) for her. It is also understood that one should participate in the funerals of righteous people.

It is understood that it is permissible to perform the funeral prayer (salat al-janazah) at the grave, but it is not correct to perform any other prayer there. As the Noble Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said: “The whole earth is a mosque except for graveyards and bathhouses.” (Sunan al-Tirmidhi, no. 317)
And likewise, he said: “Do not pray facing towards graves.” (Muslim, no. 317)
And the funeral prayer at the grave should be performed in the same manner as it is generally performed.
