Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) narrates that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) performed the Tahajjud prayer, he used to recite this supplication: "O Allah! All kinds of praise are for You alone, You are the Light of the heavens and the earth, all praise is for You alone, You are the Sustainer (and Manager) of the heavens and the earth, all praise is for You alone, You are the Lord of the heavens, the earth, and whatever is between them, You are the Truth, Your promise is true, meeting You is true, Your word is true, Hell is true, Paradise is true, and the Hour is true. O Allah! I have believed in You, I have submitted myself to You (in obedience), I have placed my trust in You, I have turned towards You, by Your guidance I have argued (against falsehood), and I make You my judge. You are the only One worthy of worship, there is no deity except You."
